Introduction
The Department of Chemistry and IQAC of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s
Dr. Patangrao Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Sangli, organized a One-Day Teachers’
Training Workshop on the Changed Syllabus of B.Sc. III Chemistry (Semester-V)
on Saturday, 22nd August 2026. The workshop was sponsored by Shivaji
University, Kolhapur.
The primary objective of the workshop was to acquaint
teachers with the changes introduced in the B.Sc. III Chemistry (Semester-V)
curriculum and to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the revised
syllabus, its content, and effective strategies for its academic
implementation. The programme also provided a platform for interaction,
discussion, and exchange of academic ideas among Chemistry teachers.

Inauguration Ceremony
The workshop commenced with a formal inauguration
ceremony, marking the beginning of the one-day teachers’ training programme
on the changed B.Sc. III Chemistry (Semester-V) syllabus.
The inaugural session was graced by the organizing chairman,
chief guests, academic dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, and
participating teachers. The presence of distinguished academic personalities
created an enriching academic environment and emphasized the importance of
effective implementation of the revised curriculum.
The inaugural programme highlighted the objectives of the
workshop and the need for teachers to remain updated with curricular changes.
It also emphasized the significance of academic interaction, collaborative
learning, and sharing of teaching experiences for the successful implementation
of the revised syllabus.
Organic Chemistry Session
A dedicated academic session on Organic Chemistry was
conducted as an important component of the teachers’ training programme.
The session was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) A. S. Kumbhar,
Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, Member, BoS in Chemistry, with Dr. G. A.
Gaikwad, Shrimant Babasaheb Deshmukh Mahavidyalaya, Atpadi, serving as the
Chairperson.
The resource person provided detailed academic inputs on the
important components of the revised Organic Chemistry syllabus. The session
focused on the following topics:

The session provided teachers with an opportunity to
understand the scope and academic requirements of the revised syllabus in
greater depth. The resource person explained the subject matter systematically
and discussed its relevance to undergraduate teaching.
The interactive nature of the session encouraged
participating teachers to raise questions, exchange views, and discuss possible
approaches for effective classroom teaching and practical implementation. The
session therefore proved highly useful in strengthening teachers’ subject
knowledge and preparedness for teaching the revised Organic Chemistry
curriculum.
Inorganic Chemistry Session
A special academic session on Inorganic Chemistry was
conducted as part of the workshop. The session was delivered by Dr. R. P.
Patil, with Dr. B. R. Chopde serving as the Chairperson.
Dr. R. P. Patil provided a comprehensive and insightful
discussion on the major topics included in the revised B.Sc. III Inorganic
Chemistry syllabus. The session covered the following areas:
- Metal–Ligand Bonding in
Transition Metal Complexes
- Crystal Field Theory (CFT)
- Molecular Orbital Theory (MOT)
- Metals, Semiconductors and
Superconductors
- Organometallic Chemistry
- Catalysis
The discussion on Crystal Field Theory (CFT) and Molecular
Orbital Theory (MOT) enabled teachers to develop a systematic understanding
of bonding, electronic structures, and the properties of transition-metal
complexes.
The session further covered Metals, Semiconductors and
Superconductors, including theories of bonding in metals, classification of
solids, properties of conductors, insulators and semiconductors, and the
phenomenon of superconductivity along with its applications.
The Organometallic Chemistry component included the
definition and nomenclature of organometallic compounds, methods of synthesis
and structural aspects of alkyl and aryl compounds of beryllium and aluminium,
and mononuclear metal carbonyls, with particular emphasis on the nature of
bonding.
The final component of the session focused on Catalysis,
covering the classification and types of catalytic reactions, characteristics
and mechanisms of catalysis, and important industrial applications of catalytic
processes.
The session was highly informative, interactive, and
academically enriching. It enabled participating teachers to gain a clearer
understanding of the revised syllabus and provided valuable academic inputs for
effective classroom teaching and curriculum implementation.
The
session concluded with an expression of gratitude to Dr. R. P. Patil for
his valuable academic contribution and to Dr. B. R. Chopde for chairing
the session.
Physical Chemistry Session
A special academic session on Physical Chemistry was conducted as part of the workshop. The session was delivered by Dr. R. S, Yalgudre with Dr. A. M. Hasure serving as the Chairperson.
Dr. R. S. Yalgudre provided a comprehensive and insightful discussion on the major topics included in the revised B.Sc. III Physical Chemistry syllabus. The session covered the following areas:
- Introductory Quantum Mechanics
- Spectroscopy
- Photochemistry
- Electromotive Force
The speaker highlighted and discussed important concepts from Introductory Quantum Mechanics and Spectroscopy topics. He further covers fundamental laws of photochemistry, Efficiency, photochemical reactions and photophysical pathways.
The changes made in Electromotive Force topic were discussed. The final component of the session focused on practicals. covering the detailed experimental procedures, calculations and expected final results.
The session was highly informative, interactive, and academically enriching. It enabled participating teachers to gain a clearer understanding of the revised syllabus and provided valuable academic inputs for effective classroom teaching and curriculum implementation.

Academic Significance of the
Workshop
The workshop served as an effective academic platform for teachers
to understand and discuss the changes incorporated into the B.Sc. III
Chemistry (Semester-V) syllabus.
The subject-oriented sessions provided detailed academic
exposure to the revised curriculum and helped teachers strengthen their
conceptual understanding of important topics.
The interaction with experienced resource persons also
facilitated the exchange of teaching methodologies, clarification of academic

The workshop thus contributed significantly to the academic

affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

The workshop successfully achieved its objective of
providing teachers with comprehensive orientation regarding the changed B.Sc.
III Chemistry (Semester-V) syllabus.

Conclusion
The One-Day Teachers’ Training Workshop on the Changed
Syllabus of B.Sc. III Chemistry (Semester-V) was successfully organized by
the Department of Chemistry and IQAC of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Dr. Patangrao
Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Sangli, with the sponsorship of Shivaji University,
Kolhapur.
The inauguration and subject-specific academic sessions
provided valuable opportunities for teachers to understand the revised
curriculum and discuss its effective implementation. The expert guidance of the
resource persons, active participation of the teachers, and academic
interactions made the programme meaningful and productive.
